To celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Republic, sailors from Tuzla gathered in the Mercan region. Organized in collaboration with Tuzla Municipality, the Respect for the Depths Diving Community, Piri Reis University, and Tuzla Sailing and Water Sports Club, the event featured 14 divers, three sailing boats, and five canoes. Divers, departing from the scenic Mercan coastline, formed a circle around a portrait of Atatürk underwater and then surfaced to be greeted by sailors on the boats and canoes, creating a visually striking tribute. Simultaneously, flares were lit, illuminating the Mercan coast with the light of the Republic.

Piri Reis University Underwater Diving Specialist H. Tamer Günebakan stated, “We organize tribute dives on special occasions every year. This year, under the supervision of the Tuzla Municipality, we participated in this event as Piri Reis University. It was a wonderful experience to be part of such a meaningful event on the 101st anniversary of our Republic, especially with our female students.”
